Daniel Welcome:
Age:
25
Occupation: Barista
Reason For Riding:

"I thought this would be a great learning experience and something that I will be able to carry with me for the rest of my life."

Dreams:
"I hope to lead an honest, happy life knowing that I have made the right choices and have been there for my friends and family when they have needed me. I have a passion for health and hope to use that passion to help people."

Who are you?:

"I was born in Durango, Colorado. However, I have lived in Oregon for the majority of my life. I enjoy the area and the friends and relationships that I have forged while living here. I live for my friends and family and to be the best person that I can possibly be. I have worked as a barista for over 6 years while I go to school to hopefully become a physical therapist. I am an honest, hard working person and those qualities are very important to me. I hope that this adventure will give me the courage and confidence to continue to live my life to its fullest."
- Daniel Welcome

Ayla Stargill:

Age: 22
Occupation:
Phlebotomist
Reason For Riding:

"This opportunity had been hanging outside my front door for quite some time. I knew I had to answer when it came knocking this time. This journey was originally for my own personal and spiritual growth, to reconnect with myself. But once we chose to give back during this journey, it blossomed into something much more than just a personal journey."

Dreams:

"To accept every opportunity of adventure that comes my way, to live an honest, happy  and positive life and be able to look back and smile at every part of my life  when I am an old, old woman."

Who Are You?:

"I was born in Medford, OR and grew up in
Ashland, OR where I attended Briscoe Elementary, and graduated from Ashland High School in June of 2008. I attended SOU and RCC where I acquired my Certified Nursing Assistant certification and went on to work at one of the local hospitals. I continued my education and recently graduated in June 2012 with a certification in Phlebotomy. I currently work for one of the local hospitals and thoroughly enjoy my job. While I went to school for what some would say is a solid career, my true passion is for cooking & baking. A dream of mine is to open a bakery/cafe' where I can relax and enjoy the company of fellow community members on a daily basis.

I was raised with a strong awareness of health and nutrition thanks to my wonderful mother
Shona Stargill. Recently I experienced a shift in my life which led me to become more aware of my actions, and to tune in with my body and health. A part of that life change was deciding to no longer consume animal proteins and ultimately take on a whole foods and vegan diet, as well as going through a 10 day reboot: juicing fruits and vegetables and consuming only that for 10 days. Right before my reboot was when Quincy called me and asked if we would like to join him on the bicycle ride. Needless to say, my life has shifted into an entirely new direction and I don't see it stopping any time soon." - Ayla Stargill

WELCOME

to

Ride Of A Lifetime

March 2013, Ayla received a call from her younger brother Quincy, inviting her and Daniel to join him on the second half of his bicycle ride which would start in Alaska and end in Tijuana Mexico. While Ayla quickly accepted his invite, it took a few days for Daniel to come around to the completely spontaneous, extreme, life-changing adventure. After they discussed all aspects, Daniel and Ayla both decided to grab hold of this opportunity, embrace their youth and live freely on the road for three weeks starting July 10th, 2013.

Daniel brought up the idea of turning the bicycle ride into something more than just a personal experience. With nutrition being a huge part of both their lives, they came up with the idea to create a daily blog and video their journey to share it with the world. What will they be sharing? How to eat healthy, raw, non-processed or refined foods while on the road and on a budget.  "Healthy Is Easy!"

Riding For Safety

July 10th, 2013 Daniel Welcome and  Ayla Stargill will ride their bikes 1,105 miles
Medford, OR- San Diego, CA
to show the Nation how simple and accessible it is to eat healthy, raw, non-processed foods while on the road and on a budget!

With nutrition being a huge part of both their lives, Daniel and Ayla came up with the idea to video their ride and document their nutritional eating habits along the way. Eating healthy, raw, non-processed foods while living on the road and mainly stopping at convenient stores? Is it possible? YES! And they are going to show you how.

Along with riding to support nutrition, the two are also riding for the JSCK Foundation which supports safe and active environments for children.

Daniel's First Ice Bath: In attempts to mend his aching body, Daniel takes his first ice bath. I see an ice bath competition in our future during the big ride : )

On The Road

While four months seems like a lifetime away, the two know that it will come sooner than they can anticipate.  From camping in the Redwood Forest in Northern California, to wondering when their next shower will be and how they will wash their clothes, the two know this will truly be an amazing experience they will get to share together and will never forget for the rest of their lives.
